Through her will and in honor of her late husband, Mrs. Pauline B. Stanley has established the Ben Stanley Geology Field Camp Scholarship to help students and support the Field Camp Endowment.

"LSU is a great tradition in our family. Ben always held a special place in his heart for the Field Camp, and it is important to me to support the camp and the students who attend," Stanley said.

"Ben" Stanley Jr. '38 served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and as a geologist at Exxon. The Stanleys have three boys: Tom, Larry and Paul. Larry and Paul both graduated from LSU, and two of 10 grandchildren, Melissa and Clay, are currently enrolled at LSU. A third grandchild, Tommy, is a recent LSU graduate.

The Stanleys previously endowed two professorships in the LSU School of Renewable Natural Resources in memory of Mrs. Stanley's father, F.O. "Red" Bateman, an early forestry leader in Louisiana, and in memory of her uncle, Dr. Bryant Bateman, a professor in the School of Renewable Natural Resources.
