The LSU College of Engineering recently received a $450,000 bequest from Malcolm C. Lowe, a 1942 chemical engineering graduate from LSU and a former member of the LSU Tiger Band. Funds from the bequest will be allocated in four ways: to name a major lab in the new Chemical Engineering Building for Malcolm C. and Gene Perdue Lowe Jr., toward the completion of a $200,000 Distinguished Professorship of Engineering named for the Lowes, toward the establishment of a $300,000 professorship dedicated to graduate student assistantships, and to the College of Engineering's Endowed Alumni Fellowship Fund.

Lowe, a native of Hazelhurst, Miss., dedicated many years of service to Monsanto as a business development director. Although he passed away in 2005, his legacy and LSU spirit will remain alive through his generous gifts and commitment to the LSU College of Engineering.
